Our design process is analytical and responsive, addressing the dynamic performance factors of landscape within a layered approach that considers the multiple interrelated overlays that encompass functional use and experience, networks and connections, landscape activation, program and accessibility in relation to a site’s environmental conditions and the broader social context of a project. 

Overlaying human and broader ecological factors, the functionality of an environment is always integrated with a regenerative target, including the prioritisation of environmental services, including canopy shade, mitigation of the Urban Heat Island Effect and Water Sensitive Urban Design, and identification of opportunities to enhance local biodiversity within the project context. 

Led by an approach of best practice in the integration of equitable user experience, our grading analysis tools address Universal Access options to ensure an optimised inclusive outdoor environment within the constraints of a project.

Our workflow system enables expedited continuous iteration throughout the design process and capacity to manage complex, evolving project programs. The application of analytical and generative tools supports effective integration of architecture, supporting fluid coordination and communication, facilitating genuine collaboration.

Analysis forms a key foundation of our design process. Our studio applies an in-depth approach to assessing the specific and dynamic contexts of each site, utilising in-house tools within the workflow process to gain data that informs and guides the testing of design options.

Analytical tools assessing environmental conditions and natural systems inform the arrangement and organistation of landscape programming, built form and the strategic provision of environmental services. 

Our cumulative solar analysis tool and shade studies map visualisations of sunlight exposure durations throughout key seasonal daily and annual conditions. Illustrative spatial information representing seasonal sunlight conditions of a design proposition guides planting plans and species selection to ensure successful establishment.

Our master planning ethos seeks to explore beyond the brief, to make purposeful contribution to the social and environmental value of a project within its contextual parameters. An initial foundation of research and analysis considers the layered conditions of a site on a macro to micro scale, to assess opportunities, constraints and inter-relationships to define the future potential role of the outcome as a built environment.
